and then my favorite little lady...

    FREDERIKA (Golden-Laced Wyandotte) pullet

    ... a sweet young hen

... and a good layer of pale peachy-tan eggs

She's my "love-bug".. sits on my lap every chance she gets, and snuggles for a bit, then gets down to forage with her sisters...

Thank you again for this series and helping to ring in the New Year! They are all beauties, but there are a few I'm keeping in mind for the future.

Lovely roses and I love Frederika, she's beautiful.

Great picture of 'French Lace' Beth. I really like the beauty of this rose. Stems are short for cutting. Lasts decently. Foliage gets lousy at end of season, here.

    French Lace - Warner'80, florib.

This is a rose I walk by near daily. It is almost always in bloom (typical Carruth) and amazingly seems to turn its blooms to the sidewalk for a lovelier display. Checking it closely the upper stem does bend to the light source! I wonder if other roses do this. Healthy. Lasts. (The tag says Falling In Love but it looks like a florib.! )

Love them! No Fs for me, but I'm so glad to see yours!

    Lots of pretties y'all!!

    Lots of beautiful F roses!

Beth, always enjoy seeing all the lovely colors, there are several standouts: Freedom's Ring, France Libre, Farfalla, Fabulous, Fascination, Fire 'N' Ice, First Prize, and Flora Danica, just to name a few! Fredericka is beautiful too!

Iris, love your French Lace, and whether your Falling In Love is that or another rose, it looks like a keeper, it's gorgeous!

I'm really into shades of coral today--love Beth's Faberge and Fantasia Mondials and Sara's Folklore.

But then there are the vividly colored beauties like Beth's Fragrant Cloud and Fragrant Plum! So striking.

    I only have two "F"s.

    Felicia (hybrid musk)

    Fru Dagmar Hastrup (rugosa)

Both of these (along with a few other hybrid musks and OGRs are along the back property line supposedly blotting out the alley running behind them.

Kate, that is a gorgeous rugosa, Fru Dagmar Hastrup.

FABULOUS, a floribunda, prettiest in spring.

FIRST AND FOREMOST, love the unique color.

    FOLKLORE, beautiful rose.

Wow, so many good ones!! I wish HMF was up and running...

Beth, please forgive my ignorance - the roses with only a few petals - do you ever cut them for a vase and if so, do they last for a bit?

    Flawless

I also have France Melliand and Fiji, too, but no photos. Maybe next year.

Towanda, I rarely cut my roses. I prefer to enjoy them outdoors. Besides, I have a cat who loves to eat them and she knocks over the vases and it just isn't worth bringing them in, unless it's a special occasion or something. And with the singles, it's not worth it anyway. Most of them only last a couple days on the bush as it is. And some of them, like DAINTY BESS and BETTY PRIOR, close up at night.

Beth, I hear you about the flower-eating cat! Maybe she knows my cat....

So many beautiful roses! I just love these alphabet threads. So much, in fact, that I started one over in irises again this year! Please stop on by to look or, even better, add your own photos!

I'm only on B so far, but I know from many of your garden shots that you rosarians also have some lovely irises! :)

    I've got one F.

    First Choice

Florence Delattre is fascinating. The foliage looks so dark against the bloom. I really do love Massad roses. Maybe this one that I should end up getting. Again Beth, thank you so much for taking the time to do these alphabet posts. It's just amazing!

However do you get a hold of a Froufroutante Jackie? Love the color of Fantasia Mondiale. Here's Francois Rabelais

I don't think you can get a hold of it here in the states currently. That is quite a beautiful bloom of Francois Rabelais though!

My rose Florance Mayer (less yellow when grown if full sun)

OMG Steve she's gorgeous! I got one from you yrs ago, but she died sometime before we did our septic tank redo back in 2015. Maybe you can bud me one for next fall?

    Sure Beth :)

Lovely pics Mustbnuts! As for my Frederika, you should see her in person. The dark outlines on each feather have a slightly iridescent green cast in certain light. Her sister Josephine is even more colorful. The green shows up more on her.

Beth, she sounds gorgeous! I just love chickens! There was someone on here who bred Copper Marans. Her birds and eggs were just beautiful.

Oh I love my chickies so much. They're my little therapy birdies! I go out and sit with them (when the weather is decent) and talk to them and hold them, and just watch them. They're so funny and they do the cutest things. Except when Ezzie gets all pissy with Josephine and they start fighting. But time just goes so fast out there. Before ya know it, it's time to go in and get dinner... LOL
