I think your problem is within the family Pinaceae rather than within the order of Pinales as the Pinaceae are distinct in having needlelike or linear leaves and Munz further delineates them as having 2 seeds on overlapping cone-scales. The 9 genera of the Pinaceae are: Abies, Cedrus, Keteleeria, Larix, Picea, P:inus, Pseudolarix, Pseu,dotsuga, and Tsuga (from USDA plants site). Use Google to check them out and see what kind of info you can find that will be of help.
