Handmade Encaustic Cement Tiles have a incredible history dating back to the moors in the year 711. A renascence in 1850 in Spain and now again at the beginning of the 21st Century what was old is now new again.

It is both attractive, endless designs and practical.

You have to be careful with the prices and make sure to compare apples to apples. Most are priced on an 8x8” tile which put together in 4 pieces creates the pattern. You can easily be fooled by the initial low price but that is just a "piece". That only represents 0.64/SF. In fact it would take 2.25 eight by eight in tiles to make a square foot.

So while they lure customers with their original low price offer, the reality is plus freight you will be likely paying $20 to $30 a Square Foot. This is mainly due to the Factory to Distributor to Retailer to Consumer supply chain. One step too many!

What we have done at The Builder Depot is remove a step (and a number of other things). This creates a position where we can sell and ship the product for $11.45/SF and Free Shipping. (Prices are subject to change, but as of 2017/18 this is the price).

Just be careful when buying. You are looking for Handmade Cement Tiles not a thin Ceramic and you need the landed square foot price to you. The actual cost per square foot delivered to your residence, store, shop, wherever. Getting to that end price is the key to comparing. More info here.

Yes, our tiles meet DCOF (dynamic coefficient of friction) standards for slip resistance when wet. Make sure the tiles are sealed properly before and after grouting.

where may I buy the bathroom mirror please?

I had nothing to do with this project, but search for "pivot mirror" on PotteryBarn.com and you'll find choices. I was happy with the ones I purchased from there.
