Flowering Dec.-Mar.?

I'm a snowbird, so I'm only in Florida (Pasco County) during the winter months. I'll be putting in my first garden here shortly, and I could use some advice on what to plant in the sandy soil around here. I'd like things that will flower while I'm here, but won't go wild when I'm not. They must also survive on the rain nature provides. Native Florida plants are therefore preferred.

If flowering plants are too much to hope for, I also like offbeat shrubs and grasses - interesting shapes and colours.

Any advice/suggestions will be gratefully received!
