The seed pods look like those of Cerbera odolam aka Suicide Tree: Pong Pong Seed pods

Palm looks like Livistona chinensis and the seed pods were just thrown in to be 'decorative'.

I note in the case of one palm I owned in the past , the empty seed pods were still attached to the base of the palms and often some kinds of palms have seeds planted barely covered or even visible , and unless completely removed by hand may stay attached to the palm until the attachment rots away I'd guess , and if the empty pods are just laying in the pots unattached , I guess it's possible someone did think they are decorative and put them back in the pot or left them there after they'd separated from the palms. I guess I should try growing more from seeds myself , since that's the cheapest method to increase a palm collection in northern climates and have more unusual ones not widely available in various local sources . I will admit I tried growing dwarf palms from seeds I'd obtained off my own adults and had no luck getting those to sprout , and some of windmill palms with no luck, but did get fresh date pits to sprout quite easily .
