when to prune

last modified: 9 years ago

I have several tropical hibiscus in large (40-50 gallon) pots that are wild and rangy and need pruning, but there are always buds on them, and I hate to lose flowers.

Any suggestions?

Also, it would kill me to toss the clippings (they could each be a new plant!) but I don't need any new plants. How bad would it be to stick them back in the dirt next to the mother plant?
