Never had much luck with this orchid. But, orchid growers always say that when you do not get blooms despite good health, it is always light.

You mention you've grown it in the same place for years. Move it somewhere else and cut back on the fertilizer. Sounds like the plant is making leaf growth instead of flowers. Maybe too much nitrogen?

Try cutting out fertilizer and increasing the light.

Well I have cut down on the feeding already. As far as the light, it gets direct sun all year. I was surprised that it would tolerate that, but it does really well. It has rebloomed once (twice?) in the several years I've had it, so it's hard to figure out what's different, since I haven't changed the way I care for it. Maybe it needs to be divided. There are at least 20 pseudobulbs.

Do you have a photo? How light are the leaves? When did you stop feeding the plant? Are you growing it indoors all year or does it summer outdoors? A photo would help.

If it won't bloom, you need to change something in the culture. Not sure what to advise you without more information.

I have this orchid. It likes indirect light. You can have early day light but should be indirect all other times except for evening maybe. Try placing in filtered light. Feed every other watering and let slightly dry out between waterings. Mine bloom well with these conditions.

Derek - It is indoors all year, in an unheated sun room. It get direct sun all summer as the sun room is facing south. Even so, the leaves never burn because it is through the glass. Although the room is unheated, in winter I do use a small heater if it's really cold out, when the room threatens to go below 50º at night, but that's rare. I have lots of other plants and orchids that all do well. So really, the only issue is getting this one to bloom. I have Cymbidium and Phalaenopsis in spike now, and a Cattleya type and Oncidium that have already bloomed and are growing new pseudobulbs. Even my bird of paradise and Meyer lemon have flower buds. Maybe it's the feeding. I just bought an orchid food that's 20-20-20 so that may help.

My brassia's were reluctant bloomers before. I added a supplement called magical.

Derick, You say it likes indirect light. If you live in Miami that means one thing but if you live in Maine it means something else. Regardless the leaves will tell you about the light. If they are a rich dark emerald green, add light. If they are very pale and sun burned, less.
