Lucky you - I love reusing old metal and those are a fine score! I would attach them into those spheres with wire. Put them together and get some copper wire and wrap around the connection areas. Wah Lah!

We have used fencing wire. Once upon a time I had a buck board and many wagon wheels discovered on our property. Over time they all fell apart and all that was left were the metal rings. We have made several orbs of all sizes. It is a fun project and the metal should last another 100 years!!

Gosh I was I knew someone who could weld!!

NHBabs, yours looks great as well. Thank you for coming back to post a pic and I like the idea of the metal rod keeping it grounded. That's a good idea for my area as well where we experience very high winds.

I love rusty metal as well. You may just be able to make a sphere with them and it will just stay(just the springiness, hopefully some is left, will hold it together as long as nothing physically touches/bumps it). Then put it where you want. Or drill holes and nut/bolt it together.

Our first "orb" the rings are vastly different in size. They are all buried in the ground which keeps them standing and gets them closer to the same size. Yes, popmama it is likely you have seen my hosta garden over on the hosta form. Someone did a garden art among the hosta threads last year, and I posted. I have been posting over there for years.

Mine are barrel staves and had holes, and I use small nuts and bolts to hold them together. Otherwise I would have drilled holes. On one set, I painted each stave a bright color.
