Al's Mix for Containers

If I made up a large batch of Al's mix (Dawn's version), and stored it in a 32 gallon trash can, would I mix the ingredients dry? I'll be using peat instead of compost, but I didn't really want to wet anything that wouldn't be used right away, and then store it with a lid on it. I was hoping to use it in the 20 gallon tomato grow-bags, and possibly when I pot up my seedlings to 16 oz cups.

Also, I have half a large bag of Metro Mix that I used last spring to pot up seedlings. It has sat all summer, fall, and now winter in the garage. It's dry, but do you think it is still safe to use for potting up seedlings?

Last question: Does anyone use vermiculite in their home made potting mixes? I see different recipes that call for some, and I just wondered. I read that it holds and releases minerals.

Thank you!
