Blooming on a tree

Tag is lost and I was surprised to find this.

I won this at an auction and did not like it. I do not like bright, frilly lips in purple with bright yellow. I planned to reauction it but forgot. It's actually on a totem pole hanging on the tree but rooted onto the tree so removing it would cause some damage. Enjoying the colors for now.

You can see the pot on the totem pole. Roots grew into the pole and all over the tree. This has been sorely neglected as I forgot about it. We haven't had any rain in Florida since early October. Have no idea how it survived and bloomed. You can see the dry beach sand which covers my Florida yard.

I think the orchid is Kong Sun but not sure. Tough plant!

I'm thinking the same!

Its hard to see from the photo but this was growing in almost total shade. I stuck the pole on the trunk of the tree temporarily and forgot it was there. It hardly gets sun under that thick Loquat tree. There's a den on that totem pole but its almost dead.

I might try to find a way to cut the totem pole so the plant could be put in a pot or basket. Roots are growing inside the pole and on the tree.

Maybe I'll just leave it!
