Wait a few days since you pruned roots. Also, you don't say where you are or what type of conditions the plant is growing in (esp. in regards to temps and sunlight), but make sure it is warm and soak it well on the morning of a warm day.

I would water any plant, in pot or in ground immediately after potting to eliminate air pockets that form when disturbing soil. Then depending on plant, time of year, geographic location, set a watering schedule, in your specific case, I would have watered immediately and not again for 2-3 weeks.

Thank you all:). Since no one responded right away, I opted for the compromise. I watered it just a little and set it in the warmest window. I figured I would give it a rest for about two weeks and water again.

Why, what was the great urgency? Did you think the leaves didn't hold any water? Was anything wrinkling? That's just something I never do, as policy.

Well, typically, I don't water after repot with succulents, but the roots were absolutely bone dry and one of the leaves was wrinkled around the edges. Also, the potting mix is pretty gritty and doesn't hold moisture for too long, so I thought a bit of water wouldn't hurt.
