Thanks for your question. A good tile installer will lay out a few boxes in an open area near the install. Our installer selected each one to blend with the other, making sure the dark pieces were not bunched together, and also made sure most pieces used were consistent with each other. It means you'll have to purchase additional for waste, but it gives you more options for laying them out.
