Bathroom tiles

I wanted to ask you more about opinion on the design rather than building a house. I thought about the solid wall or panels rather than bathroom tiles (they're not as tight and more hygenic in my op.). A friend of mine who ordered great Corian panels in a polish company Luxum told me not to make tiles. I don't know if he's been just said it's bad or if it's true. Have you got any viable opinion?

I would use real granite or marble panels or ceramic tile or porcelain tile.

6x12 marble tiles cut from standard 12x12 marble with narrow joints has worked well for me.

Rejecting tiles because they are not "hygenic"[sic] seems a stretch. Assuming you are not licking the walls of your shower there shouldn't be anything to worry about.
