Help with kitchen layout

last modified: 9 years ago

Hi thanks for reading. We moved in to a new house during the last year and are planning on remodeling our kitchen. Our goal is to make it a modern kitchen. So far we are leaning towards:
-New floor (hardwood) continued off dining room pattern
-New Cabinets (from Cabinets To Go)
-New Sink 36 inch
-New Granite counter tops
-Add island across from sink
-Take out the top half of a wall that splits the kitchen and dining room. Then add extended counter and stools where dining room is now. You would be facing into the kitchen if you sat on the stools.
-Remove big sliding glass door and replace with regular door to create more cabinet space or space for appliances.

The sink, dishwasher and window positions are set, but where should I put the new oven and microwave I'll buy plus the fridge? I'm not against getting a cook-top and separate oven but trying to keep costs down. And does our whole idea look good as far as placement of the breakfast bar? We have already used Cabinets to Go at our old house when remodeling the kitchen. If there are any options in a similar price range that are better quality then those I'm curious to learn. I made a drawing with Floor Planner showing the dimensions. We are on a very limited budget...$20-$25K

Thanks!

Below is a picture of what we like (minus the breakfast bar looking inward towards the kitchen) with a similar layout to our house. I would guess they removed that portion of the wall between the kitchen and dining room. I think this kitchen pictured here may be a little wider then ours.
