Where are you located that the fig needs to be indoors? Brown Turkey is a pretty cold hardy variety that should be good in the ground to zone 6. And even if it's colder than that where you are, edible figs are a deciduous shrub/tree that wants to be dormant in winter. All it needs indoors is moderately cool temps (35-45F) - no higher heat (will prevent it from properly entering dormancy), no light is necessary and only just enough water to keep the soil slightly moist.

I'm in New York. It probably would be fine in the ground, and it will be when it warms up. It's inside because it's a little plant, about four inches high. I was told it was a tissue culture plant. And the ground was frozen when I got it so I just decided to keep it in and plant it in summer. Figs drop leaves when they go dormant. When my figs go dormant, I put them in my cellar where there is no light and it is about 55 F. I water them once a month only when the soil is dry. Google how to over winter figs indoors.
