Alyssa, I have had nothing but bad experience with sand, in those rare times I tolerated it in my substrate, even for mesembs. I am sure there are people who can work with it but I'm not one of them.

Having said that, here is what I suggest instead: repot the problematic one in an even smaller pot. I've learned that the 1-inch rule of thumb works well for adenium seedlings until they are around a year old (that is, the rim of the pot should be no more than an inch around the trunk). This way, it will dry faster even if you have to water it more often than the others.

If the other plants are handling their situation well, there is no need to disturb them. You are also right---some seedlings take a while to gather their wits when you move them around.This one is probably just being a prima donna. But in a couple of weeks, they'll settle down. You can tell because their trunks will start to regain stiff turgor and will no longer be kind of springy.
