My favorites are La Rose Optimiste, Lavender Joy, Lila Vidri, and Lynn Anderson. Will look them up. How do these do for you, Beth? Here are some L's: This one is a seedling of Cl. Crimson Glory. It's very fragrant and repeats, sometimes balls, and I don't know yet if it's a climber.

    Here is Love Potion:

Lovely Erasmus! Was that an OP seedling? LA ROSE OPTIMISTE is a pretty rose, except that it gets thrips reeeeeally bad! It grows tall and gangly like a climber, to about 6ft. LAVENDER JOY is one I got from Cliff several yrs ago. It was in a bad spot until I dug it out this fall. I hope to see it do wonderful things this yr. That picture was taken when it was still in that spot. It was the first bloom in many yrs! In fact, I actually had thought it died, until that bloom showed up! LILA VIDRI (aka LEILA VERDE) is one of the best lavenders out there. She grows about 3½ft x 3ft and blooms decently every yr. LYNN ANDERSON is a great rose. She's a tall one, about 6ft in an average yr, and can get up to 7ft sometimes. Nice big canes and stems, good repeat.

Love your shot of LYNN ANDERSON, Beth. Lots and lots of L's, many newbies to me.

    Love your LOVE POTION, erasmus.

Thanks. Glad to hear how these do for you. I read some bad reviews of Lynn Anderson on hmf, but it sounds like it's worth a try. Yes, that seedling is just an op seedling. I have been growing op seedlings every spring for awhile but never get around to trying any crosses. For one thing I'm very busy in spring. Also, the time I collected some pollen I got so little of it that it didn't seem like enough. Maybe I'll try again. The one pictured has a lot more petals than Cl. Crimson Glory. It has good vigor and repeat and fragrance. Just balls sometimes and is not immune to bs. I want Lila Vidri but looks like RV is the only one who sells it and I have never found it in stock there.

That Love and Peace is lovely, Dan.

Beth, that's a lovely shot of Leann Rimes. Legend is such a deep red. Nice. Little Grey Pearl is such a unique color. Bizarre.

Nice photos Erasmus and Dan. Crimson Glory - wow.

I have Leda and very much looking forward to some blooms this Spring. No photos yet unless you want a pic of a few sticks. haha

The other "L" I have is Lexy

Oh yeah, here's Lille (lee-la) which is Danish for "little." :-)

I can't believe it. Here I have been waiting impatiently for the "L" roses to come up so that I could show off my newest "favorite" rose--Love Song--and then I somehow completely miss the "L" thread!

Well, here I am, running frantically trying to catch up, even if it is just at the tail-end of the train! Better late than never--huh?

Love Song--I have a couple pics here--I really fell in love with this rose last summer.

    Love Song--just opening

    Love Song--fully open

And here's another one I quite adore also--several different views:

    Lady of Shalott--just opening

    Lady of Shalott--more apricotish here

Lady of Shalott--fully open, catching the sunlight

Sorry to be posting so belatedly.

No problem Kate! You're not that far behind. Love your photos! I think I'm going to have to move my LOVE SONG. I planted it a couple yrs ago in a bed next to our driveway, and it's too close to the edge of the street. It hasn't bloomed since I put it there. Plus I think that's one that the deer like. They don't come into my yard hardly at all anymore, but they do go around the fringe, so LS gets hit occasionally.

I haven't had mine long enough, Beth, to give much advice, but if it helps, mine is planted in nearly all-day sun, including that killer western sun, and it grows and blooms fine--except in later summer when it gets too hot for most of my roses to bloom and Love Song also takes a break.

Deer are one problem I've never had. You have my sympathy.
