I bought this as Hoya Subquintoplinervis(?) But the leaves are not succulent and/or stiff. What do you think it is???

Ok, sp. Chiang Mai (from the Chiang Mai province of Thailand) is the one people are circulating as subquintuplinervis, here in the States. It is NOT subquintuplinervis.

There is also only ONE (true) clone of this particular plant. A clone is a cutting of a mother plant. It will always carry the IDENTICAL DNA of the mother plant. We have been using that name wrong/too casually.

A clone (usually a hybrid) MAY carry a recessive trait which may randomly pop up on new growth (such as reversion, heavier splashing, going back to variegated or albomarginated), but this is RARELY seen in sp. collected in the wild, as they are the "type" specimen, and usually are not a hybrid (although, there are exceptions). As far as I know, pottsii Chiang Mai is NOT a natural hybrid.

It is also NOT a verticillata/pallida/acuta/parasitica or whatever they want to call that one, these days. Leaves are too large, and not acuminite enough (too broad). And, unless it has been PUBLISHED as such, keep the label as a pottsii.

However, pallida looks a bit different (at least mine does):

As far as merrillii, nope. Flowers don't match, nor do the leaves. Hoya sp. Chiang Mai's leaves dont blush in high light (only the edges redden), either.

It almost looks like limoniaca or pottsii. The stems aren't quite thick enough or the leaves quite veined to be merillii.

Apparently there are a few different clones of this hoya. Not all have the super thick leaves.

Ok, apparently the chaing mai was sold as subquint but now has been reclassified as verticillata.....

That Subquint looks like the one you sold to me as Pachyclada red corona.

By the way, I dont know where people get this information from so i dont know whats true and what is not.

Susan also recently said that hoya wiebergaie (i think thats how it as spelled) is now some sort of verticillata.

Hoya wibergiae used to be sp. Laos 2 (verticillata), but has been PUBLISHED as wibergiae.

As far as pottsii 'Chiang Mai" goes, like I said, unless there is a PUBLISHED publication, keep it as pottsii.

Oh, thats the pretty one i want to get. Hopefully you will be selling a rooted cuttings in the coming months.

Actually, Susan is right on wibergiae, at least technically, seeing as how the name is unresolved/unaccepted. Another Kloppenburg doozie:

Now, I don't know if the name is unresolved because Kloppenburg tried to publish it with credit to HIS name, but someone else orginally published it before him, or if it just doesn't match the holotype or what.

It does (sort of) resemble verticillata, but the triplinervation is NOT seen in verticillata, and wibergiae's petioles are red, unlike the tan colored petioles of verticillata:
