The original plant is well rooted, and The growth is coming up from the soil, about an inch or so from the original plant. I didn't have my glasses on when I was in the greenhouse this afternoon, but the little growth has noticeable grown more (its amazing how you can almost watch some plants grow) and it appears to have little plumeria type leaves at the top. I will get a picture tomorrow and post it. Thank you

Wow super interesting! I have never seen that before - if you pull back some earth is that coming from cutting? It very much couild be an offshoot

Do you have an oak tree in your neighborhood? Squirrels plant oaks and filberts in many of my potted plants that summer outdoors...

Use a table knife to explore the soil around the shoot. You will find, within 2 or 3 inches, the source of it.

I'll check the soil tomorrow and gently see what I find. My greenhouse doesn't have lights. I'll post what i find. Those tiny leaves and the coloring just look like plumeria to me. Can't wait for it to keep growing and find out for sure.

That's a tree seedling planted by a squirrel or other rodent. Plumerias look nothing like that. It probably germinated last fall and just now started to send up a shoot. Probably has a robust root system.

Well rats, Dave you are right. It has grown a little more and the leaves are serrated and definitely not plumeria looking anymore. Plus, I found one in another plant pot and that kinda of sealed the "nope its not plumeria" decision. I removed them, and put it in their own little pot to see what it grows into. I didn't find signs of a seed shell, but am thinking maybe wisteria, there's wisteria at the neighbors on each side of us. But, I'm waiting to make a guess. We'll see what the future brings . . .
