Dining room decor ideas.

I saw this gather sign and just had to have it for my dining area wall. I'm thinking I'd like to place something on either side of the sign and I'm looking for suggestions.

This is my wall where it will go. The door to the left is my pantry.

I might place it (the whole thing including the frame) inside another, larger black frame, with a black mat showing around the outside of the original frame. So it's a frame inside a frame. Like this but with a simple black frame and mat so the original piece stands out.

Simple sconces might look nice.

Maybe some stenciling - I keep finding myself attracted to stencils for creating a focal wall or accenting artwork, etc...just having a hard time deciding which one to try in the space I'm considering :-)

For your space, I'm imagining a stenciled backdrop for behind/around your sign, just to give it more presence. The room seems pretty neutral, do you have any accent colors?

This one might be neat on your wall:

birds/trees

Or this one:

rain

What size is the sign compared to the wall size? It doesn't really look to me like there's room to fit in anything else without crowding the space. I think I'd let the "gather" piece stand alone. Anything that projects from the wall will interfere with opening of the pantry, won't it?

You could hang it by a decorative cord or ribbons to add a little extra "something" without making it part of a grouping, especially if space or door opening is an issue as IdaClaire mentioned.

I can't find a large tape measure at this time, but my wall is approximately 73" x at least 8ft ceiling. The sign is only 26x14 so plenty of room for something additional. However the pantry door may be an issue. Melle I love your idea of a stencil, I never thought of that.

You could also mat it and use a larger frame, but I like the simplicity of it as is.

Hi, Diymom. What a nice idea, but I suspect when it arrives you'll be able to better determine what will be needed to give that message the appropriate oomph. Stenciling sounds great, but only if it ties in to what's happening elsewhere. You could always change out the frame no matter what, no need to stay with generic.

My one firm suggestion is to paint the pantry door the same color as the walls, and that could be done before anything arrived. I'm guessing you'll want all gazes that direction drawn to the display wall, not split between it and a utility door. :)
