Window Mount Birdhouse Questions

So I just picked up a plastic birdhouse with a clear back that mounts to a window via suction cups at a resale shop for all of $1. If it doesn't work out, no big loss. My question is what direction should the house face? My yard has a strong western exposure which is good for sun and wind, but I am thinking that a southern exposure might be better as it is sheltered? Comments welcome!

I am 60 miles west of Chicago, zone 4/5

    I'd put it on a north facing window to eliminate any chance of overheating inside. Other windows that are well shaded might also work.

    Maybe I'm just a worry-wort, but I would fear that the suction cups would give way, and hurt the eggs/babies.

    I agree and was trying to come up with another support system just in case the cups fail.
