Cleaning grout

What is the best way to clean the grout in my kitchen. Can I do it myself?

I just did this daunting task. I bought a cleaning solution made for this purpose and went to town with a scrub brush. I had a kitchen and long hall so it was a lot of work. Once you finish put a sealer on the grout lines and it won't absorb the dirt anymore. FYI they make a stain to change light grout darker. Won't show dirt as much.

Usually it's better to repaint it. There are specific products for this.

Try this method, it worked really well for me. Cut a piece of citrus fruit in half and rub the cut side on the grout, squeezing as you go. Let it sit for a minute but don't let it dry. Scrub lightly with a nylon scrubbrush and then rinse. This should clean and brighten your grout. Be sure to reseal it!

I've used those bleach pens on the grout with a good scrubbing certainly helps....good luck!

Someone posted a Pin on Pinetrest how she cleaned her grout with a gel toilet bowl cleaner w/bleach. Google it. She took before and after photos.
