I think this is true. I think sometimes these folks don't realize what the rest of us do or don't know about and don't think to tell us.

You absolutely may stain your stairs different from your flooring. And yes, darker is possible and most likely better than lighter. But if you do this, your stair color should be well thought out and as a part of a cohesive design concept. I love this room and hope you find it inspirational.
