I wasn't able to find a daylily named "Pink Stripes". Do you have a picture?

Pink Stripes is a 2006 introduction from Mike Derrow.

There are several hybridizers working with striped or spotted flowers, but I am not sure of the genetics involved.

I also grow Pitter Patter which is an actual polka dotted daylily.Yup folks ......those small dots are not discolorations they are an integral part of the daylily bloom and are scattered all over the bloom different sizes. They are large enough to be called dots ......not speckles like some daylilies . I have had more people interested in Pitter Patter than I ever expected including a top hybridizer from Europe .

Thanks all and love those pics of pink stripes. Have you grown any seedlings from it?? I know this can be passed on just not sure how it is inherited. I like 'Explosion in the Paint Factory' and also that it is a tet.

Dave Mussar ( used to be president of the Ontario Daylily Society has been breeding for years to get stripes and spots http://dave.mussar.com/).

He has intro'd a number of plants in this vein . He has Cherry Stripes , Dots Galore , Loretta the Stipples Queen , Spots before My Eyes and Splatter . He also has a new one that is Pink Stripes x Pitter Patter preregistered as Spots and Stripes and it really does have spots ( from Pitter Patter and stripes from Pink Stripes ) It is sooooo cool looking!

Older thread I started but just wondering if there are any updates or anyone else here growing or working with these broken colors. I saw a 'Wacky Wednesday' for sale recently on Facebook...............went for more than my budget (but a very healthy plant priced correctly). I grew a couple seedlings of Explosion in the Paint Factory, one of which will hopefully bloom this coming season through I don't expect it to have broken colors. May be worth crossing back to EITPF if the two bloom at the same time. Fun stuff!
