Window puzzle

My tall windows have a decorative wood "ledge" on the top of the window that protrudes 2-3 inches from the wall. There's about 4 inches from the top of the ledge to the bottom of the crown moulding that lines the ceiling. I would like to place stationary panels down the sides of the window. What type of panel (grommet, gathered, pleated, etc) would work best and what type of hardware would be best?

I would remove those pieces they make no sense and then hang drapes you like I dislike stationary panels I always like drapes to be full enough to be able to close and hang nicely even if you never do it and IMO these windows would look best with full drapes BTW your bedside lamps are way too small and it might just be some weird angle but the chair and ottoman look tiny in the space

Thanks Patricia--those are great ideas. We just moved here and I never even thought about removing the ledges but you are right- that would make the drapery so much better. The ceilings are 10' tall so my lamps need replacing as well. Great suggestions!

remove these things with no purpose will look better you have nice windows
