Sharing pics: My GS seedlings

Top view of 6 of my GS seedlings, grown from mixed seed 8 months ago, eBay seller: Greenstuffs, based in NYC. Germination was 7/10. Love the leaf variations.

Nice 2+" caudex on some of these, one is perfectly round like a ball. Will add a better photo of that one. The 1st one was pruned, which activated lower branching. These are still in 4" pots.

This one is the oldest, now almost 9 months old. Nice self branching!

Needs pruning. I'm thinking of pruning 3-4 nodes under that lowest leaf on the main branch & wire the others for form as they grow larger.

Will update here when they bloom. Bloom color will be a complete surprise. In my first year, I opted to sow for bloom variety. We'll soon see if it was worth it! They're NOT all single, Pepto Bismol pinks, right? Riiiight? Oh, the anticipation!

Great results there Maria, I guess your climate may have something to do with the seedlings putting on such good growths in a relatively short time! It must be great to get them to grow strongly enough to be able to prune them back for better shaping/branching. I especially like the one with the rounded base, and that last one will respond well to having its main leader cut back. Can't wait to see the results. The coming season will encourage them to look even better for you :-)

Thanks, ladies! I have everything outside 24/7. We've had cooler 68-72ºF nights these past 2 months (can extend to March), which has had a direct 'growth stalling' effect on everything. Daytime temps are still 82-86ºF with comparable humidity, so everything is still active, just less so.

Here's a better view of that "ball" of a caudex in its 4" pot:

Here are two 4-month-old seedlings that have very different caudex shapes from the others. This one doesn't taper like the others.

This one is a tiny 2" runt in comparison to its sibling. Its caudex is browner and has always had a very rough surface, with bumpy downward striations. It has a head and looks like it's grafted.

Maria Elena,. All look so good. Such wonderful girth the the caudex, like ball shape.

You get such good growth and healthy. Need to get some of the DH and/or TS seed. You would have some marvelous seedlings w wonderful wide bases.

Hi, Rick -

I can only hope to contribute some seed-grown-by-a-novice blooms to the forum this year. Let's see what I get from last year's plantings. Many will go to friends & family with first choice to the angels who gifted me seeds. They helped keep a therapeutic spark in my soul when life got challenging throughout the year.

I'll be concentrating on specific KO cultivars this year. I like Marica's idea of posting actual flower vs. what was purchased / expected. Once I 'weed' out what I don't want and establish a proper adenium garden, I will move on to other species of adenium ... and take a serious look at my very neglected C&S ... Ha!

Maria Elena: Those are very impressive plants - so much growth (& girth) for such a short time! Love those tropical pix - yesterday I went to a winter street fair to see ice sculpture, so seeing actively growing green things is a real lift!
