I've found, contrary to what some on here say, a lot of the "greiges" have a violet / lavender cast during certain times of the day in my house which has LOTS of windows & sunshine 350 days or so a year . I tried several samples, went against my first instinct on Edgecomb gray.. expensive mistake, having it all repainted since it's the living & dining rooms + stairwell & halls.

Best thing to do is get a sample can to test. Obviously the lighting in your home will affect things. This is another pic of Winds Breath with BM Simply White for the trim.

Go to the paint store and ask an experienced paint mixer which colors have more green in the base rather than red. The less red they add the less lavender it will appear. Then sample those colors. The options are limitless,which it appears you already know, lol. Good luck.

Actually... I love the whole entire color strip depending how light or dark you want to go :)

Light can do a number on colors..The color will look different during different times of the day, so not much we can do there..

Is Edgecomb Gray light?

lblandino, check out Kylie M. Interiors' website included in Beth's post regarding greige and gray shades. I've found it helpful in the past.

I'm going to try this one tomorrow! I've read this is a good one. I thought it might be too light but I read it is light-med. the grays are harder then I thought bc of the undertones. I'm seeing a lot of lavender which throws me off!

I used Benjamin Moore 'Smoky Taupe.' Its an old color but they still make it. You have to ask. It had no lavender or pink undertones. I had a very bright room, loved this color. This photo shows more gray, however I found it more beige.

As mentioned earlier, you cannot judge color correctly when you are painting samples on a beige wall that has a lot of yellow in it. Paint on a foam core board and prop it against your white bookcase.

BM Gallery Buff is my recommendation if it is not too dark.

I think it is a mistake though.

I don't think it works with your backsplash and countertop.

Benjamin Moore Owl Gray is really nice. I usually cut it 25%!

I sampled a TON of paint trying to find the right mix of grey/beige, I think I bought 8 samples, somewhere around that. Did a ton of reading around the web and kept hearing "SW Popular Grey". I went to Sherwin Williams, bought 5 gallons (yep, no sampling) and painted it on my walls. I LOOOOOVE it!

Lets see if I can find a pic. K house isn't finished but you can see the paint in this pic. This pic is also taken at night, zero sun, and adjoining room with no lights no.

I just looked also! I don't see them there anymore! I believe they are made by Savoy or World Imports. World Imports has a lot of very similar ones!

I think they were pendants but it is possible they are foyer lights. Let me check my Houzz Ideabook to see if I saved the name! Stand by.... :)
