Tea is on!

I don't mean to be a wet blanket, but I have been in a dull, numb funk for the past several days. I can't seem to get anything finished. I have lots of things started, nothing finished.

I have laundry in the washer, laundry in the dryer, and laundry in the folding basket. None of it is finished. This is not at all how I manage laundry.

I still have Christmas items waiting to be wrapped, packed, and put in the basement. I did get a huge box and got the tree and its accruements into the basement.

I started sorting, purging, and inventorying a Rubbermaid container of lace curtains and various nice linens. Half is finished; the rest is waiting on the ironing board in the bedroom.

The vet's office called. A very detached voice told me "Harry's ashes are back and are ready to be picked up." I have to go get them, but I'm too numb to actually do it.

I have a display case to hang on the wall. It's on my desk; I have the hangar hooks out; I have the hammer out. Now if they would just all get together.

I went in to fold laundry and decided I should re-arrange the bedroom. Thankfully I got a grip and firmly told myself "No new projects, no re-arranging, no anything until the laundry, Christmas, linens, and wall display are completed."

I do hope you "over achievers" (you know who you are! LOL ) chime in with the mountains (of snow ) you're moving. It will motivate me! Surely I'll snap out of this soon!

---

I found two new tea mugs, Lenox "Butterfly Meadow" chocolate mugs with cute little spoons that fit in the handle. I thought it would be nice for my friend and I to have "matching" tea mugs for our Wednesday "Tea and Mystery" afternoons.

Right now I'm drinking Tetley's out of my flowery mug.

Strange; I tried to add a photo to my first post, but the edit button disappeared.

Here are the "Tea and Mystery" mugs.

Oh Caroline the mugs are gorgeous!!! I have never seen the spoon in handle like that before. So sorry you are feeling in a funk. Was a good idea not to start another project but some times it is what helps you or me to turn the corner.

Well I might be one of those over achievers moving snow but it is not happening yet today. I did manage to get myself into my car loaded with 6 WEEKS of trash to go to the dump then down to Walmart to get my prescription and return an item that was not going to work for me. I went to town with my friend yesterday but my prescription was not ready and they said they can not mail them out. Sigh So back again for me today and I beat the storm home. It did snow a wee bit on me but I kept going and got the job done. So happy for me. This is the first time I have driven since Dec 13th. I probably would have bee too afraid to do the town run if I had not been just down there yesterday to see the roads were clear enough for me to be able to get around.

I am also feeling exhausted still from all the snow removal and like you have not been very motivated to do much. I am managing to get my chores done and my laundry is done and put away. House half way picked up. I did a couple afternoons of mosaic work on my hallway wall. My ribs are still very sore. Much better but two trips to town jostling around in the car was not good. I am blaming my ribs for feeling so tired. Pain wears a person down some times. Even pain of the heart like for you Caroline.

I do not really have any more plans for today other then to put stamps on the bills I just wrote checks for and make one quick pass through the house with my little fuller sweeper. The snow has not really started in yet so I am kind of saving what little energy I do have for it for later on. Hoping we only get an inch or so then I will not bother with it until morning.

I tried one of those TV antennas or bought one and returned it today. But it did open up an option I had not thought of in my living room arrangement. Just switching the TV stand and love seat side table with each other. It would put a plant in better position for light and get most of the TV OUT of the window. But I will not be pushing anything heavy around until my ribs feel better. for now I will just have to dream about it.

I do that, too, caroline. I try not to but...

I have clothes on the rack in the living room, drying. I need the humidity in the house and wet clothes provide a little. Before they are really dry I will run them through the dryer with other things that are either wetter or dryer. Softens them up and the other stuff dries quicker.

It melted again today. This is just unreal! We haven't even had a blizzard this winter! Why am I scared to say that?

I did have a problem with a wild animal in the barn. Two mornings in a row I went in and it was trashed. I set the trap and this morning I had a very mad cat. Big cat! I knew he'd been making trouble with my cats because they came down from the hay mow every morning instead of sleeping on their heated mat. Even though I would have preferred another solution I dispatched him to heaven.

The mugs are pretty. Clever idea to put a spoon into the handle.

Yesterday I did very little - again. It was snowing and a bit chilly outside. I made a quick trip to the store for a few groceries, including a pack of maple sweet rolls to go with my Yorkshire Gold tea. Since Christmas I had been very good about staying away from sweets such as cake and cookies, but I finally caved in. Hopefully my sweet tooth will be satisfied for awhile (not).

In a few minutes I'm off to a framers to see how much money will be involved in framing two vintage photo post cards of two women in their horse and sleigh from 1912 and 1916 respectively.According to writing on the backs - "Minne and Emma and Flora the horse" in the first. "Emma and Maud (the new horse, Flora passed in Oct. 1914), dog Rover and Minnie" in the second, dated Nov. 1916.

I collect vintage photos, but have come upon a problem. When I am gone, how do I let my relatives know that the people in the vint.photos are not related? as I display them throughout the house. I'm thinking of putting the initials "NAR" for "not a relative" on the backs in pencil. Of course I'll have to give the code to my family. :)

Agmss. The fabric is pretty. Is this for your little futon like bench?

School_house what a fun hobby to collect the vintage post cards. And the stories they tell. I have one vintage PC of Yosemite which I adore. It is a long fold up one and no idea how a person would frame it. Maybe I should look into that. As I remember pictures are on both sides though. So frame between two sheets of glass and turn the frame once in awhile or???

I think I solved the issue of no get up and go yesterday. I turned up very sick in the middle of the night and I am cleaned out this morning. Not sure if it was some thing I ate or the flue. Feeling much better today. Not sure I am ready to eat some thing but coffee seems to be fine so far. The snow storm last night was light and not enough for me to have to go out and shovel which is a good thing. I think today will be spent catching up on the half a nights sleep I missed.

The sun finally came out but it's not melting today. The horses have been around on the north side so that must mean some snow has melted or they finally got a track through it. I started to break a trail for them one day last week but it was too deep.

I haven't accomplished anything yet today. After my in-depth genealogy rewrite over the past couple of months, I decided last night to see if the next generation had anything new in the folder for me to add to their story. Yes! And I could do a much better job the second time around. Experience is a good teacher. I'm waiting for my cousin to proof the big story I just finished and while I wait thought a look over of their daughter's (my great grandparents) story would pass the time. Now I'm rewriting it.

I have to do a software update to the family tree maker software. Makes me VERY nervous. If anything goes wrong...

I have flannel waiting to be made into pajamas. I have some vintage fabric I thought would make cute kitchen curtains. And here I sit.

    I love the mugs!!

As I will be moving in April or May, I have been slowly purging closets etc. Today it was the linen closet. Eliminated a duvet cover set, 3 sets of queen size sheets, and some frayed towels and wash cloths. Some are being reclaimed as rags, others are being donated. I rewashed everything that was to be donated, then added them to the growing pile of other items taking over the dining area. With my breathing problems that was a lot of work. Tomorrow....we will see lol

Caroline, your mugs are adorable and I'm sorry you were in a funk. I hope things are better today. Your post reminded me of when Murray passed. The vet came to the house to let him go and then she and the tech put him on a small stretcher and took him with them. A few days later I got a call and the girl said "you can come and get Murray now". My heart leapt! It was so disconcerting. But I do take comfort now in having Murray's ashes in a beautiful ginger jar sitting on my dresser. Hugs to you.

My "junking" friend and I went on a road trip today. There is nothing vintage left around here any more. Lots of junk, just plain ordinary junk. Salvation Army and Goodwill have gotten expensive. Against my better judgement I paid $4.50 for a flat sheet. But it was the perfect shade of yellow and I've been looking for a yellow set for quite a while. I'm half way there!

We hit every second hand store that was open and the ReStore. Didn't find anything. Amazing. We always find something.

We stopped at the mall because I thought there was a vintage shop there but there wasn't. What there was was a lot of empty stores! As we were going to the car I remarked we should have counted the remaining stores and she replied it would have been easier than counting the empty spots. I did find some nice flannel pajamas in Younkers for 70% off and the clerk found a coupon for some more off so the two pair came to $31.65 including 7% tax. I was happy with that. I can put my flannel fabric away for another 5 years!

We ate Chinese and everything was SO good! There is a TJMax there that I didn't know about so we stopped just to see. I was not impressed but I did find another pair of flannel pajamas for $12.84 including that darn 7%. I'm set for a while!

We ended up at JoAnn's because she wanted 8 place mats and everything we found would have added up to more than she wanted to pay so she bought fabric and is going to make them. It was a good trip and we were home by 3:30 so we accomplished a lot in a little time.

Most of my dogs are buried. One's ashes are scattered in the pasture where his pony still lives and one is in an urn here in this room. She was a golden but she only was willing to be outside if I was out there so I couldn't bury her in the pet cemetery. Our ashes are supposed to be combined and spread in the pasture. My heart dog is buried in another town. I thought about moving him when I moved to the farm but I couldn't do it.
