many of what we call annuals.... are actually perennials ... that are not cold tolerant ...

and some.. in a perfect spot.. even if not perennial.. can winter over for a second season ... maybe they dont understand the julian calender ... lol ..

but eventually.. the annual type just get old and go down hill

True, they are technically perennial where I'm growing them. Just so used to calling them annuals haha. There are also plants that are now evergreen I have to remember.

I overwintered begonias a couple of winters and enjoyed their continuous bloom. Preferred the pink blooms as it appears you do as well. Joy.

I might try that next year. I'd love to have a little bit of color mixed in with my foliage houseplants.
