I bought a potted Meyer lemon tree in April 2014 with a few lemons on it. It continued to put on lemons and the first season I harvested almost three dozen in Sept./Oct. of that year of what I would consider small to regular sized.

I am in Virginia, Zone 6B, so it spends summer outside, then a month or so in an unheated greenhouse and the rest of the time in front of a large South-East facing window, with supplemental light for 12 hours a day.

The last two years I have had a severe problem with citrus scale just when the tree blossoms, and in getting rid of the scale, I have knocked off most blooms, so only have a couple of fruits left. Here's where the question comes in.

Last winter I harvested one of only two fruits and it weighed 6 ounces. I was really excited, thinking that must come close to a record for a small potted tree. This year, only two lemons survived again, and I picked them today and the largest weighed 9 ounces! The other weighed 5 7/8 ounces.

Is that normal or do I have overachieving tree? I am organic, so I only use Espoma Citrus-Tone, top dressing with worm castings, and occasionally fish & seaweed emulsion.
