I think it's at the top pf the price levels.

It looks a lot like Aurea "Divine" that I'm planning to use in Kitchen, which is a Level 6. I like that the LG "Alpha" has more veining than the Aurea. I selected LG "Karis" for Master Bath and it's a Level 4. Maybe the "Alpha" is a 4, too???? Would love to pay less and get the same or better look. :)

This thread is so helpful! I am looking at the LG alpha quartz as well but don't have the option to view a slab. Can someone on this thread please share what shade of white goes best with this quartz for kitchen cabinets ? Thank you!

mkasby, you should be able to at least see a sample at a local shop, even if they do not have the slabs. I was going to suggest that you order a sample but the LG site is STILL out of them - (ridiculous, it's shown out of stock for over a month now). You might be able to call them and find out where you can see a sample locally. I have seen a sample now at 2 or 3 shops that carry the LG line. My cabs are painted BM Decorator White, but the quartz won't be directly against the cabinets - there will be a gray glass tile backsplash in between, so I am not too concerned about a "perfect match" of the two whites. I will say that Alpha is definitely more of a white-white, not a creamy white, if that makes sense.

@chess I will be getting a sample. I started with minuet and roccoco but changed my mind after seeing pics of alpha. I really like BM simply white, it's not as creamy as dove white but not stark white either. Hoping simply white works once I get the sample. Picking a white is so challenging!

Simply white will be fine! It's not as stark as DW, you are right. But it is a great white-white. I think you will be good with that. I hated choosing whites - BM has 154 of them!! LOL!

Funny - I also started by looking at minuet and roccoco, but once I saw a counter up in Delaware a couple of months ago, all I wanted was THAT. Turned out that particular material was a quartz that was made by that company (Troy Granite), and I was SO disappointed. You know how that goes, you get hung up on something and can't let it go.:-) I kept looking and found a Vicostone (Arabescato) but there was just something about it that was not quite right for me. But I was probably going to settle, and then I found LG Apha - and that was IT. :-) This is the one I saw in DE that got me started.

If I get a chance, tomorrow I will take my painted cards (simply white, snowfall white and decorators white) up to the shop and snap a few pics against the quartz for you.

Okay I ran up there and took a couple of pics. I had a couple of different cards I had painted when I was trying to decide so I used those. It was hard to get it without my shadow! :-) It probably doesn't show here, due to lighting, but it is amazing how different these three look in daylight - the DW is the only one that actually looks WHITE. Crazy how lighting can change colors.

Anyway, here you go. The white of the quartz is definitely a perfect match with the Decorator white. (I didn't plan that, I just found that color to be a crisper white, and that is why I used it.) The Simply white was closer in shade, the Snowfall the most different. I used the Snowfall on my lower walls as I wanted some contrast from my trim.

Any chance you took a pic of the full slab so we can see what a whole island would look like?

I already posted a pic of a full slab earlier in the thread. But here is another one. This particular slab is not mine - just one in the shop. There is a dirty area on it at the top.

Thank you Chess! Agree that decorators white is the closest match. I like the softness of simply white and it doesn't look yellow or creamy next to that quartz. I also like super white, I just got my sample today so I will take a pic with my boards and share. I am definatekt going with alpha, it makes a statement :)

Agreed on the Simply White. I think it would look just fine! I think my counters are going to be delayed a week or so, I had to pick out a sink and FINALLY found one online, but it will not be here before the scheduled install date. Drat.

There are many types of this material on the market. Please make sure you deal with a quality stone yard that has slabs to select from . Do your due diligence and make sure the slabs you purchase are suitable for a kitchen where you actually cook. Many make the mistake of purchasing slabs from bait and switch suppliers and regret the savings later. Good luck with your project, it's going to be beautiful!

super white, simply white and chantilly lace top to bottom See how yellow simply white looks next to the other two. The single plank is simply white and doesn't look as creamy by itself.

I really love this stone. I think it's exactly what I've been looking for. I haven't been able to find a slab to see - working on it. For those who have seen this in slab, are there any of those little digital dots in it? Would you describe it as true grey and white with no brown tones?

@chess our slabs came in today so I took some pictures with cabinet samples. Simply white did look a little creamy so I am leaning towards super white. Chantilly white looked too stark.

I went to see this quartz on Thursday in St. Cloud, MN and have 4 slabs on hold for my Kitchen and Master. I'm sorry I didn't take pics, but my cabinets are going to be Super White and the cabinet person brought a sample door along and it looked really nice. The Alpha is not as bright white as the other stone I was considering (Aurea Divine), but I love that there's more movement and veining, so the perimeter cuts will have good amount of veining present.
May I ask what others are doing for backsplashes in kitchen or wainscoting in bathroom?

I plan on doing a gray glass subway tile. The gray will match the gray vein color.

Take this with a grain of salt - before installing it around your fireplace, have a discussion about heat resistance with your supplier. My understanding is that on occasion, quartz can crack under high temperatures. I'm not sure heat resistant is the same as heat proof?

I have wood all around my fireplace, and tile on the hearth - nothing there to worry about. I have a glass door, and gas logs. No issues. Quartz would be great around fireplaces.

There seems to be a lot of people on here with great taste, so I am hoping you can help me. I am getting new countertops, but already having backsplash, I am having the hardest time picking out something. Please ignore the sample sitting on the counter, but can anyone help me with a counter suggestion. I love the one you all are posting, but I'm not sure if it would go? Any suggestions on something that would go with the backsplash I have?

You might want to look for something that mimics Calcutta Gold. You'll get those warmer, golden tones. LG has one called Viatera Calacatta Marvle http://www.lgviaterausa.com/products/293/217

Well, with that tile, you definitely do NOT want Alpha - it is quite cool and would never go with that backsplash. Are you open to a quartzite? If so, Taj Mahal would go nicely.

Looking in the Viatera collection, the Clarino is a nice warm white with gold tones in it.

With the dark walls, I would probably go with a lighter backsplash color. I like both of the ones you have. Take a pic of them flat on the counter (too many shadows there in that pic).

Love this quartz, and I never thought I would say that! I wanted natural marble in my master but I could not convince my DH that the price and potential for damage were worth it. Secondly, I never thought that anything but stark white quartz would work with my flooring and shower tile. I am doing Dal Tile on the floor and Alpha on the counters, with navy custom cabinets. For those looking for color references, the paints in the picture are SW Naval, SW Dover White and SW Colonnade. Can't wait to see it installed!! I was quoted Level 4. I'll be honest, the Dover White is not perfect with this but in my room Dover White is a very limited player.

Below is a photo of the variety in the tile on the floor. I like that the counters will be more subtle than the floors, but that the veining and colors are a great compliment. Not a perfect match, but neither is a perfect white. The tile is not ever directly adjacent to the counter. OBV the lighting is different and more yellow in the flooring photo, but you can see in the above slab photo the nice way these play together, especially noting the finer veined tiles are a majority.

It seems as everyone here have a great experience with it but not me...

I chose this in a design center and the builder of my new TH took charge of installing it. I never got to see a slab before they work on it. It turned out the kitchen look dirty, and the way they install it is not ideal either. It's sad that we were charged 15k for these... and they said the material looks "Nature" while in my opinion, its called dirty. I don't know how I am going to cook in this kitchen.

Sha Design LLC - your quartz appears to have a lot of dirt on it. My Alpha does not look "dirty" at all. Have your counters been CLEANED??? Also, I think running it up the wall was probably a mistake. Much harder to match the veining - a solid tile would have been a better choice.

I will say that the pattern on your quartz looks quite a bit darker than any Alpha I have seen. This is my small MW corner. This looks much lighter that your pictures. Why on earth did you not approve the slab?? You never should EVER pay for materials that you have not approved.

So glad to hear someone agree on me about the "dirty" part.

We have not moved in yet, so it's not cleaned thoroughly. That's why in the very beginning I thought those are just dirt untilI I used my hands to touch the countertop and realized those are not dirt but part of the material.

That's interesting to know that we have options. When we were in the design center, they actually told us that we can only use the same material for the countertop and the backsplash if we choose this one. I will double check with them, although I dont think they will do anything about it now. Thank you for mentioning this.

I really regret that I didn't find this page earlier. This is my first time buying a property, and I didn't know that I am able to approve the slab. We picked the materiel in the design center, and we only have a small picture of the material we chose in a picture.

The agent also showed these pictures to us and said this is how the kitchen will be looked like. We thought they will take care of everything but, instead, the material look dirty, and the way they installing it is funny. No one contact us during this time either until we are about to close the escrow.

I think the color is darker because of the lighting? Your's does look great. I will be much happier if mine look like yours.

I too wish you had found this site earlier. I think many people don’t understand how “wrong” things can go, with countertops. I was lucky that my fabricator was one of those that told me right up-front that he REQUIRED clients to come in and see the actual slab And sign off in it. Not only did I do that, I took lots of pictures ( I’m not very trusting lol). Also we discussed the layout, seams ( I did not want any, and I got what I wanted) all before any cutting ever took place. I would see how your counters look after a good cleaning....but those veins are really dark. I might go get a sample from a shop, take it home and compare it. If it’s off, I’d call LG and voice my complaint. They certify their installers....and usually these companies want good installation outcomes.

But, yes it could certainly be the lighting. A sample would certainly help determine that.

The builder and me both reached out to the ppl at LG. Funny thing is, they replied the email and said this installation is “exactly the same” as what they shown in the deisgn center. the email only made me piss off even more. its not saying, it might have some variation, or darker spotS. He said, “it’s exactly the same”....

I certainly would not stop at that. You just didn't reach the right person yet. And get that sample, take it home, and compare. If it really is different, then take a picture of them together and send that to LG. They cannot deny a picture that shows a difference.

I tried. The LG manager said he visited my unit and replied in email said it's the same. There is also another system they used if there is a QC problem. I guess the only way is to go though arbitration now since the bathroom tile have similar problem but worse. I hope anyone who saw this post do not need to go though the same thing I experienced. Thank you Chessie for helping me out. You are way better than those people I talk to.

Did you go get a sample and take it home and compare it? Take pictures? You need to show that the slab you got is NOT the same as the samples you were basing your purchase on.

This is our finished quartz , it turned out great minus the fact that our island quartz is a lil lighter than the rest of the quartz. I will say we had a really hard time and had to send some back because the color of the quartz pieces were different. Good luck :)

Surely you can find a sample at another shop? I can find samples of my quartz in many shops locally. You can also order a sample right off the LG website. You have to pay for it, but I think it would be well worth it.

Sara, is there a seam on your counter? Do the veins line up? They installed mine and the veins are bothering me and not what I signed off on.

If they are not what you had approved, then they are responsible for correcting that.
