Winter sowing Ptelea trifoliata (Wafer Ash)

last modified: 9 years ago

Can I winter sow Ptelea trifoliata seeds the same way I do milkweed seeds?

We are certified monarch waystation and over the last several years we have been seeing alot of Giant Swallowtails in our Garden feasting on the milkweed blooms.

We would like to include the beautiful Giant Swallowtails in our butterfly rearing and have done much research on their host plants.

We have acquired some wafer ash seeds and I want to get them started asap.

Due to LOTS of small grandchildren... we have decided not to grow any of the the Rutaceae flowering plants that may cause welts/rashes. The Wafer Ash seemed the safest, plus we are growing some small citrus trees from seeds.

Any help on starting the Ptelea trifoliata from seed will be greatly appreciated!
