Backsplash / Countertop Decision

I am finalizing my design for my kitchen, and the last step is to confirm that the colors do match up.

Cabinet choice (decided)

Flooring choice (decided): Republic Laminate Ocean Drive

Quartz Countertop choice:

Victoria White (on the top) vs White (on the bottom)

Backsplash choice:

(Only one option now, wondering if it would fit?)

Thanks in advance for people's suggestions!

I prefer the top CT choice. The bottom one looks like one of the original Ceasarstones and may date your kitchen.

I personally do not care for the BS, as I think the tone will really bring down the freshness of your new cabinets. But if you use it, how will you tie in the gold/tan of the BS elsewhere in the kitchen?

Subway tile is a classic and timeless. That is my recommendation.

Imo, glass tile is trendy, not classic. Can't go wrong with subway.

Wait till you have the cabinets in the counterparts in and the flooring in place then you can begin to pick a backsplash. That one would be the wrong color tones to go with the rest of the kitchen. I also prefer the first countertop. We have all learned that waiting is the right way to do it. You can see it all in place in the room in the light all of which will influence the decision.

On my monitor your flooring choice has subtle pink undertones. Be very aware of that with backsplash choices.

Are you saying you have to use the backsplash? I don't see it with your floor or countertop choice. As for the counter choices, I prefer the top one. Not a fan of the bs choice at all :(

Thanks to all. Actually, the cabinet is actually more cream-white-ish (even though the photo seems to be bright white...)

Thanks to ravencajun and amberm145, I will follow the suggestion of waiting until the kitchen is done before deciding the BS!

    A few questions:

    (1) Any reasons why people tend to prefer the top Quartz? If I go with this quartz, would this other BS makes sense?

    (2) If I get another more cream-ish countertop instead of these two options I posted, would it work? (given that my cabinet is cream-white-ish as well).

I want to support the NO on the glass back splash. To my eye they are two totally different styles, your cabinet/counter top choices and the glass mosaic.

I agree that the backsplash is a no. First, the colors/styles are different as arcy says, and, for my own taste, that backsplash is trendy (also as said above) and it seems that "everyone" is using it now. I predict that by next year it'll be no-longer-trendy and dated.

HOWEVER - I'm only offering that view because you asked for opinions. If it looks right to you and you love it, use it.

Edited to add that I love your cabinets. Do you mind sharing more detail such as where you purchased them? Are they wood?

Hey Suzieque, yes, it seems that "everyone" is using that trendy style backsplash, so I am pretty surprised that all the replies here say no. Basically, we're worried that the whole kitchen would be too plain -- all white, even though the countertop has pattern, it's still very light pattern. Is that so?

My cabinets are from a local store (ZMC) in the Bay Area. I don't know if they sell elsewhere. I think they are wood, and I just got mine today and they do look pretty nice just as in the photos!

By the way, does my cabinet handle choice affects things?

You need to choose your "diva". So far, your counters are the star. If you want a wow backsplash, then go with a solid counter.

The glass mosaic is trendy and probably on it's way out. Also it plays better with a contemporary kitchen. You have traditional style cabinets.

For fun, look at trends in your area. Go to Zillow or Trulia and look at upscale homes.

For example, in my area, these homes all have white kitchens and marble. Not saying that you would do that, but it gives you an idea of what is happening in your area. I would be hard pressed to find a glass mosaic backsplash in a recent build.

I also say no to the glass tile. The shape and style do not go well with the rest of your choices and the colors (both choices) are too warm. What is it that you like about the glass tile? The addition of color, the bling, the shape? If you can narrow it down, perhaps someone can search out choices that have the characteristics that you like and also will work well with your other choices.

Would you be willing to use glass tile as an accent with white subway tile? I think the mosaic backsplashes we've seen a lot of lately are much too busy and trendy, but I don't mind a small accent. I would, however, consider a tile mosaic more like this one. I personally think the long, skinny tiles look odd with subway, but I think this is quite nice.

The first counter looks more like an actual stone which is probably why more people chose it. Me included, it is very pretty and classic looking. I like the second one as well but I usually think of that type in a more modern kitchen.

I think a scalloped type of tile would look nice or a penny round. Grey or white. But like others have said I would wait and choose that and your hardware once the main stuff is installed.

Do you have any kitchen inspiration photos to share? Many of us love to virtually shop and that would help narrow backsplash options.

These blend subway tiles have slight variations in color which are interesting. Scroll down to see examples.
