Yesterday I purchased what I'm pretty sure is a Staghorn Fern?

I'm planning on mounting it soon, however when I took a closer look I started to wonder if maybe this is multiple plants in the same pot?

I think it may be easiest to see from the side like in this picture - there are two separate stems coming out with their shield fronds growing up against each other? Unfortunately the ones in the very middle seem to have been chopped off.

From the side it looks like three separate plants all growing up against each other - they seem quite firmly stuck together as well.

Would it be safe to separate them if this is the case?
