BM classic grey

If you do a gray, it should be a warm gray. Notice how the popular grays are combined with white or very dark cabinets in pics. That is because cool grays (in large doses) and warm wood tones do not bring out the best in each other. A "gray" that is actually a blue or green with gray undertones is a possibility or a greige. Those colors tend to be a tad on the darker side like your present color.

My cabinets are warm wood and my wall color is cream with just enough of a beige tint to set off my white trim. I might not be "on trend" but the kitchen is a warm and bright room - necessary in the northern climate I live in where there is plenty of gray outside. I might feel different in Florida or Texas.
