Sounds like I may be in the minority here, and normally I like non-matching pieces, but your tables are so lovely, I would use two. Having drawers next to your bed is also handy. Accessorizing can be impactful. Just be sure their height is right with the height of your bed. Love your bedding and be sure to incorporate pillows/throw that compliment the side tables.

Thanks Maureen, I do like them a lot. The tables are a tad higher than the mattress, but I that is ok with me. I will need help again when I get to the accessorizing. That is a very serene bedroom. That is the feeling I am going for.

I love my shutters. We had hunter douglas top down bottom up with opaque shades and sheers so I could both looks and we liked them a lot, but after 17 years they dry rotted. so when we had new windows installed we went with shutters. We had them installed in our front windows shortly after we moved in 24 years ago, and they still look great.

Hello, while I am waiting on the delivery of my bedside tables I need to start working on the other side of the room. I purged the closet and drawers to fill 10 kitchen bags, finished painting, received the shams and throw and hung the chandelier that I had for 4.5 years!

I am attaching a floor plan. The room is 14'3" x 16' with an 11'7" x 3' bay window. Also attaching pics taken from all sides. The door into the bathroom has moved to the right of what is shown on the drawing though.

I am getting rid of the long dresser. The tall chest can stay, be refinished or move to another room. The painting can stay or be moved.

Here is what I am thinking: either replace the long dresser with another dresser or change out to an armoire. There is a tv jack behind the dresser so if I had an armoire I would consider adding a tv, but this is not a must have. If I go the armoire route I think I would remove the tall chest and replace with a French Bergere(sp?) chair and ottoman that angled into the bay window with small reading floor lamp and possible small side table.

I want the space to feel serene and uncluttered, keeping the furniture to a minimum though I always envisioned a bench at the end of the bed but think that may be too much. Will this work or do you have other ideas I haven't considered?

It's really coming along! I love your chandelier and paint colour...definitely getting that serene and classic vibe you're going for. If you have an armoire, would you still need a chest of drawers? I would be tempted to put the reading chair on that small wall where the chest of drawers is presently, so you don't have the chair, side table and reading lamp blocking your lovely bay window. And you have room for a bench, but I'd keep it low and fairly narrow so it doesn't fight with your footboard. If you got a bench that offered storage, you'd have even less need for a chest of drawers.

Sharon Joyce. Thank you for your comments. I do think that would work with the chair on that wall and removing the chest of drawers and not blocking the windows. I am currently looking at these chairs. I love the Peridot Bergere chair, but I don't think it is available in that fabric anymore. I also like these other two. Though the $999 price seems like the best option. But the RH one has an ottoman. Waiting on frontgate to email me about the peridot chair before I make a decision.

Here is one mor I was looking at, but the price is getting up there. What do you think of the leather on this one, would it work in a bedroom?

The bedside tables have arrived and I love them.

Jenna, the chandelier is the restoration hardware 19th century roccoco iron and clear chandelier. I purchased it more than 4 years ago, but they still have it. It's pretty blingy! I don't know how to choose the bedside table lamps now. Thinking something much simpler but don't know. Suggestion welcome.

I'm pretty much at a standstill now as I don't know which direction to go as far as an armoire or another chest of drawers. I really haven't found anything that I love.

North point2, it is a beautiful chair, I even requested fabric samples. The only one they didn't send was the blue leather. The other samples go really well I think. Though I don't really care for the pillow.

I think either could work. I was thinking black/dark because it may tie together your chandelier, cabinet hardware, and darker bed frame. EDIT: Also, pop against your paint color. :)

That's great! I'm thinking of getting the same style for a cabinet that's soon to be in my family room. We have a RH outlet 5 minutes away, so I may pop in and see them too! :)

Trying out a couple of sizes, proportions of lamps that I already
have to help me decide what to choose. Which proportion do you like better? The candlestick lamp or the heavier base and larger shade?

Agreed, I like the size of the one on the left. I think you should go with something sleek but classic in terms of shape and style. Did you check out the RH ones (too small?)

Love the metallic shades! I was liking the candlestick lamp shape, but you confirmed my suspicion that it was too small.

So the dimensions of the Colson won't work?

I don't think the Colsom lamp will work. The shade is slightly larger than my shade on the candlestick lamp and it's not nearly as tall. Mine is 29" tall and the Colsom is only 23".

The photoshopped sleeker, larger lamp is great with your other components. Be careful about getting a darker shade for a bedside reading lamp, though, especially if it's not a tri-light lamp. You may find it pretty, but impractical for its intended purpose. (Loving your bedside tables!)

I have the opposite problem with lamp shades, I got white ones and they disappear visually into my light wall paint. :(

Nothpoint2, maybe you can go a shade darker on your walls.

I'm not sure, I may get some dark shades because I do like the paint color and the room gets a TON of natural light...hmm.

By the way, I'm still DYING over your view! This room will be even more stunning when you're done.

Thanks Jenna Carr! I never thought choosing lamps would be so hard. Seems many that I like are very expensive. These would be reasonable if I catch them with a 30% off. Just want to be sure the proportions work too.

Received my lamps. Do they work? I like them, although they are a little more glam than I thought they would be. I do plan to add some other gold details to the room. I have to send one of the lamps back as the shade was dented. What do you think, should I keep them?
