GE Cafe Range Warning!

We renovated our kitchen in 2014. After much research, I selected a GE Cafe double oven gas range. I am very disappointed! The lower convection oven on this unit abruptly stopped working when the oven was just two years old. The touchpad controls also went dead. We called for a repair and were told that the lower oven bake deflector had a burn hole in it caused by the igniter. Upon further inspection, the technician discovered that the bake deflector had been installed backwards. This caused the igniter to weld itself to the bake deflector, causing excessive amperage to the control and shorting it out. We were fortunate that there was no damage to our home as a result of this defective product. However, parts were very slow to arrive and we were without a lower oven for over two months.
The repairs to the unit cost $657.00. Since the unit was defective, GE should cover the cost of these repairs. In addition, I would like an extended warranty to cover other potential problems with this unit. Unfortunately, it appears to be impossible to get GE to do anything! We have called, emailed, and posted on their Facebook page to no avail. It looks like we are headed to small claims court. I will never buy another GE appliance!
