Whatever you do, never put decorative pillows on a guest room bed. For guests with inadequate place to set luggage and spread out their stuff, decorative throw pillows are an imposition, and when heaped on the floor in the dark in an unfamiliar environment they are a real hazard.

i have a largish wooden magazine rack from the 50s that nver has accumulated magazines, but 2 square pillows prop up on it perfectly

Not only are there no decorative pillows on our bed, they're not on any of our furniture! None to be had here. I know, I'm strange.

i use a pillow for my bad knee sometimes one to help my bad shoulder and 2 under my head i decorate the non head ones. they never leave bed,

It depends on how tired I am. If I'm really tired, they go right on the floor. If I miss a few, I just sleep with them and hope I don't drool on them. If I'm feeling organized and have a bit more energy I either stack them on the chair in the room or put them in the closet. I really like the look of having decorative pillows on the bed when I'm not sleeping, so coping with them at night is worth the extra effort, or just climbing in with them and enjoying the extra cushiness.

I love throw pillows and think they can definitely add a personal touch to a space, but if they're not practical or able to be used on a piece of furniture (ie the bed), why have them there at all to begin with? I show personality on my bed with switching up my regular pillow shams and my bedding. :)

I agree with Chloe! We have seen a lot of designers and stagers place metal baskets next to the bed for storage ( they also fit nicely under some side tables)

I have a storage trunk at the end of my bed where extra bedding is stored. We place the pillows on top of the storage trunk when they are not on the bed.
