Cypress will naturally grey over time. It depends on where you are located, but, the Fir has a more red tone. We have only used Fir on doors, which this front door happens to be. We do not normally use a solid wood on an exterior in Florida unless the home owner knows that they have to keep up once or twice a year with sealing it. Florida is not the best place with heat and termites to use solid wood.
