Juncea mold?

I bought this plant along with 4 other varieties of airplants online. I've had them almost 4 weeks.

I wrote the seller asking if it was mold and if there was anything I could do to save it, but the reply I got was "we'll replace it". I appreciate them doing that, but I would have liked to of learned from this experience.

Is it mold?

Can the plant be saved?

Is it my fault? If it was my fault, how do I not do this again?

Do I need to throw out the water I've been soaking my plants in?

Are my other plants at risk since I soaked them in the same water?

Here is a pic of one of the black spots on my Juncea. The worst spot. I took the picture after it soaked for 30 minutes and dried for 30 minutes.


Here is a picture of the vessel I keep it in. An old drinking glass, 16oz size or so. Is that enough air flow?


I've soaked them once a week for 30 minutes. I used bottled spring water, and saved it.

Let them dry on my plate rack for 30 minutes before placing them back in their vessels.
