Hows your plant doing now? They can handle a lot more sun than the recommendations give. Nurseries give them extremely bright filtered light all day long. Unless you have a greenhouse you can't recreate that, the next best thing is full early morning direct sunlight or evening direct sunlight (or both!) and indirect light the rest of the day.

Its doing great! I water it about every other or third day and rotate it often so that it gets sun evenly. Seems to be thriving. Its definitely filled in the 10 gal terra cotta pot I put it in. Lots of new shoots forming. I also fertilize with a liquid fertilizer such as miracle grow about once every week and a half or so.

My 'Xanadu' lost all of its leaves two years ago from neglect during the winter. It started growing new leaves last spring. This year, I placed it out in full, direct sunlight, once the weather finally warmed up enough to keep it outdoors. It has been growing in direct sun all day long with zero shade whatsoever.

I have it growing along with a Philodendron 'Hope' in direct sunlight all day long and they've been loving it. But now that summer is right around the corner, and the sun's light gets more and more intense, I've been keeping a close eye on them for any signs of sunburn. They've been slowly acclimated to this direct sun since the beginning of spring. I thought that I would've had to move them back into the shade by now, but I haven't. They just keep growing and growing. Though I can see now that they're reaching the maximum amount of sunlight that they can tolerate. Soon, I will have to move them back into the shade. But until then, they been soaking up all of the sunlight that they could possibly want. Since they've been getting so much sunlight, I've been keeping them well watered and not letting them dry out. I don't even think that I've fertilized them yet. I may just do that this weekend.
