pipe issues usually involve old clay tile sewer lines ....that roots can get into .. how old are your sewer lines??? age of house???

one usually presumes .... the water pipes hold water.. ergo... roots cant get in ....

where are you ... probably determines how deep your water pipes are ... and whether it might be an issue ...

i am not familiar with this plant ... but my gut reaction is usually.. do not plant a monocullture ....
