Tangos are supposed to be one of the variety for cuties. I tried some tangos from my mom's tree and it just blows away any cuties or store bought citrus I ever had.

Great video tmc2009. Tango is by far the best tasting mandarin I have ever tasted right off of the tree, followed closely by gold nugget. This is why I always suggest tango when someone on the forum asks what mandarin they should get, I feel it's the only one you really "need". There's nothing better than a seedless, sweet, loaded with juice, sweeter than candy mandarin that's picked ripe and eaten out of hand off your own tree. Nice job!

Vladimer, I have been looking for those Ruby Tangos. Are they seedless? I haven't seen any trees for sale yet.

Cory, they are seedless. I was hoping to find a seed, even though they are a hybrid and will not breed true, but no such luck.I looked for trees, too, but could not find any.

Just had another one tonight and boy are they juicy! Had to eat it over the kitchen sink. Hard to peel though.

I picked up some Ruby Tangos at my local whole foods. It's too tangy for me. I can see how someone who likes blood oranges would like this. I think I prefer the plain boring Tangos.

I like Shasta Gold more than Tango, but you can't understate individual preferences here. I've found with citrus varieties people's tastes are not all the same.

How long the fruit has been sitting around in the store also affects the taste, texture, water content and mouth feel of citrus fruit. Perhaps the reason people cannot agree on the taste of a particular fruit is also due to this (and people's tastes not being the same).

Most all mandarins and Satsumas are ready to eat before the peel turns completely orange.
