We have one staircase in our house - it's curved and gets a lot of foot traffic. The process of choosing a carpet to cover the stairs is a bit overwhelming, especially when I think about how much money this will cost. We definitely would like a wool carpet - and trying to decide between berber and pile. I'm going for durability, but because it's in our foyer, I want something that will look good and clean easily. I'm looking for help with brand names (the carpet stores are pushing Stanton - a wool/synthetic blend - but some of the carpet samples don't look like they're wearing well), and for ways to gauge what to ask for and start looking at in the store.
