Run off from driveway to yard

The two pictures are showing from my yard to the driveway and driveway to yard.

When snow melts or it rains, a lot of runoff from my driveway ends up in the yard. That's fine. However it creates a very muddy area are you can tell from that second picture. I'm looking for a way to basically help divert the water from the gate area and bring it farther to the left, along the fence line.

First idea was a small pvc pipe cut in half and laying it along the cement, but that runs the risk of getting clogged. My Dad-just going off the pictures-wonders if pea gravel could work. I feel like anything that lets the water soak into the ground like that will not be stable.

End goal is to not have a muddy area right there (lead up to the gate on an incline-it's not great).

Anyone have an idea?

You know, a catch basin I'm not sure is what I want, but it did lead me to grates. If I dig out those cement slab steps going into the yard and replace them with a grate, that could get me my desired result.

ldg,

Google a french drain with a filter sock. That should do it. But the important part besides having enough fall (slope) to the street is where will the water exit too. More info (pictures)needed. GL JMHO.

Here's what I would do if you have a place to send the water to that is downhill. NDS make all kinds of drainage products. I did this by my walkway. Works great.

Here are some more pictures to help with the brain storming. I might be putting in rocks or tiles or cement slabs or something in the muddy area. Already got a high ankle sprain from the mud. I could also put down grass seed, I suppose, but it's also the only spot my dogs dig.

A trench/channel drainage system that will redirect that water would be a great start. If you cant use channel, I would use catch basins, again to redirect.

I think you will need more than a grate, you need to actually contain the runoff and direct it some place else.

But where could it be directed? Right now, my driveway basically funnels it into the yard. I'm not sure that I can change that, but I can intercept it with a grate and direct it from there. It makes sense in my head, but perhaps completely implausible in actual application.

I live in Florida, have dogs and plenty of rain during summer months. On past occasions in an effort to control puddling I dug into the ground surface round enough to bury a 5 gallon bucket or larger trash container. Depending on the amount of water or drainage problem at hand was how I based my choice of container. Each round cylinder placed into the ground had the bottom removed and holes drilled into the sides. Afterward I would fill with rocks or chips of concrete and fill. To stop the dogs from digging I would layer a piece of metal fence and top off with soil. I found this effective in allowing the water to penetrate the ground at a greater rate. And if the dogs dug at the ground where the metal fencing was, they stopped digging. This same technique worked in Rockaway Beach, NY. during hurricane Sandy. My grandfather and father had a deep pit in the basement used beneath a shower. The water in the basement drained without needing a pump. This method has proven tried and true without any doubts. It's what they do for outhouses in the country.
