They look really good! Are these the same ones you planted last year? I'm just curious if you were able to get more than one season in your zone with a little TLC. Or did you order new ones for this year? I know a lot of people in warmer zones treat tulips like annuals.

I have to treat them as annuals.

Worth the wait, what a colorful start to spring. Do you buy them as a mix or plant them out that way? The colors seem to be blended perfectly.

What kind of a foxglove is that? I tried some of those new hybrid digiplexis last year but they only did so-so. I'll stick with the tried and true this year, but I don't think my climate is well suited to them...

The tulips are three different mixes - to spread out the blooming season. Double early Magic Carpet, Triumph mix, and new to me this year Bouquet mix (more than one bloom per bulb) All from Van Engelen. I didn't write down the type of digitalis - it is a hybrid, perhaps digiplexis. The flowers are sort of orange and pink. I got it last year and it seems to be very happy here.

I have heard that bulbs stored in frig for chilling must be kept in a separate frig that has no veggies/fruits. Is that what you do?

Yes, my husband's apples and bananas get kicked out of the main fridge for two months. Oranges, lettuce and other vegetables seem to be ok.

As the earlies start to fade, others start to bloom. It is different every day. They make me so happy.

Gorgeous! The only place I've seen more is the Pella, Iowa Tulip Festival. How did you have room in your fridge for so many?

The bulbs fill the two fruit/vegetable drawers and we have to go to the grocery store more often! Here is a picture from today. The first to bloom are now losing petals, and the late ones are starting.

I've heard that the tulips Maureen and Menton will do ok in my zone without chilling but I haven't tried them, yet.

My tulips are almost done, but my Babiana is going crazy this year with all the rain we've had!

I think if I were in your shoes I'd completely forget about tulips the minute one of those babianas opened up. Those saturated purples are amazing. Can you grow anemones as well?

I can grow anemones but they don't all return.
