Only onions, and I'm working on getting them all done today. I think lettuce seed probably could be sowed now. The weather seems pretty mild for the next couple of weeks.

This weekend for lettuce/spinach.

It's still to early for me to plant the onions. We'll probably have more cold night than I want to hassle with.

My spinach seed hasn't come up. I might buy some fresh seed.

Does lettuce require light? Struggling with those, too. Thinking to start them in the cold frame.

I have had lettuce in the ground for about 2 weeks now, doing fine down here in SE Oklahoma.

Bon, I don't know if lettuce seed strictly must have light, but it seems to sprout more quickly if you basically just barely press the seed into the soil (outdoors) or soil-less mix (indoors, or in containers outdoors) surface or just barely, barely cover it with a light scattering of soil or soil-less mix. Lettuce seed does lose its viability fairly quickly. I try to use up a packet in two years. By that third year, germination often is spotty and erratic, and often slow.
