Door color

I had great recommendations for curb appeal yesterday. Many people suggested painting my door. All I can see now is how boring it is. Please tell me your color recommendation. Keep in mind my house is going on the market.
- I painted the flower pots copper since the pic. was taken, but could easily paint again if new door color wouldn't match.

That hot tomato color of the pots isn't bad. Going through all my exterior house references, every single sage green house I saved has a red or reddish door. Red is the winner.

yellow is another color, which could work with the green

An orange-red or a burnt orange would look sharp.

Or the blue of this planter, with lime coloured plants in your copper pots. I love how it brings out more depth in the two greens:

Cranberry, black, or aqua would be among my top choices.

Thank you so much! The pic I posted may look lighter than it actually is. To me it's more of a dark green (if that changes your opinion). This pic might show color more accurately.

To be honest, that strengthens my opinion! lol

I agree with a red tone

Now that I'm getting a second look and seeing the fence in a reddish tone, if you pick a red, do some version of your adobe roof color rather than the tomato red.

Your house is so adorable! Try your first instinct. If it doesn't work it will cost you a little time and a quart of paint to change it.

For the realty market I would match the door to the black iron railing along the walk/steps. You need a larger, more impressive lantern light and much larger house numbers. You might hang the numerals to the right of the door to counterbalance the long window on the left. Not sure the balancing pots are working with your asymmetrical entry. Perhaps just one larger pot centered on the left side of the porch would look better. Match it to the door or to your trim color and get an impressive arrangement of plants that do well in your locale for it. Plan to sell it with the house, so invest in it for knock-out curb appeal.

    Black!

is anything in the pots? lol. plants some flowers or greenery in there prior to open house. I liked them better w/the orange color.

get a small outdoor rug w/some accent color to place on the porch and maybe a cute chair and small table. make it look inviting.

maybe a stool or a little chair:

here is your tomato door w/some better house numbers

the tomato color and the turquoise are natural compliments to each other.

or how bout a cute bench like this on your porch?

Those house colors you posted look entirely different! If it's that darker green in reality, I like that bright turquoise shade. you are in NM and those colors are welcomed.

Hi Beth! No, there is not anything in the pots right now. We're not finished with cold weather yet. You're right about turquoise and NM! I'm just not convinced it will go well with the color of green and tiles my home is. It's hard for me to get a picture with the true color. I love your furniture ideas though! I'm going to keep checking Craigslist. Thank you!!

    Melanie,

I put a picture of your house on the Sherwin Williams color match and the coordinating colors for your house were the color of your trim and this color: I think with your tile roof it would look great! Then add color in the planters when the weather permits.

Cute house. A couple things I might suggest are: place a long slated bench on the front porch instead of the chair. I think it might work better also should you opt to not do a bench, place your flower pots side by side to the left of the window. I would paint the front door the same color as your roof. I am seeing that you repainted the pots copper. In that case your front door current color works well. You might opt for a front door mat. Have you recently painted the exterior? It is a beautiful color. It would further accent the front if you were to paint the front porch pillar cream and brown like your existing trim and clay roof. It is adorable as is. You should have no trouble selling it. Good luck.

    grey or black could work

    Hey, nice! Quick worker!

lol. cute pic. like the color too

The toddler is adorable! The door color does look nice. Post a pic of the whole house.

I agree, something in a the red/rust/roof color range. Do you have an HOA? They may have some restrictions about exterior paint colors - just an FYI if you're about to sell.
Everything else is the same. I will post the whole thing when more progress is made. We went with behr formal maroon. Would have loved to go brighter actually, but with the roof I decided it might look strange and since it's going on the market didn't want to get too crazy.

I do have a HOA. :/ Once I started looking at doors I realized a lot of my neighbors have crazy colored doors so I think I'll be ok.

You may need a "Certificate of Compliance" so check on that. Don't wait until you have a closing looming and the HOA holds it up. Better to tackle it now, get their approval and avoid any last minute hiccups.
