Zinnias and sunflowers are the easiest seed to start that also have flowers bees love.

I second the votes for zinnias and sunflowers.

There are pollen-less sunflowers, though -- I would assume those varieties wouldn't attract the bees.

Try salvia - pretty much any of them are bee magnets.

We don't really need detailed zone information for annuals, ken. One can sow zinnia anywhere in the world that has a warmish, sunny season for even a short time.

It will be up to the OP to determine the best planting time.

Also depends upon which bees you are most trying to attract/help out. Bumbles and honey bees tend to prefer larger flowers. However, our native mason bees -- which are quite tiny and are often metallic blue or green -- tend to prefer small flowers like those of sweet alyssum.

I see a lot of bees every summer all over my borage and chive flowers, also the Eupatorium (Joe Pye weed).
