First Time Meyer Lemon Tree

Hello all- I have been wanting to venture into the world of citrus but living good in central PA choices are limited. I purchased a Meryer Lemon tree and received it about a month and a half ago. When I received it, the leaves were all fairly dark and curled in. Nothing has changed with these but there has been some new growth at the top although a couple leaves have some brow spots on them and I'm wondering what this is from. My cat did chew on some of them but those are obvious and it is now out of his reach. All the flowers have formed since I got it so I am just wondering if there is anything that I should do to help the leaves out a bit. I've watered it heavily twice since having it and have it plenty of time in between to dry. Could these be from pests or do I need to adjust watering habits? Thanks in advanced!

First thing first..)

I would find another spot for the dishes since they don't need full sun and put your trees smack in the middle where they are..That gives them much more direct sunlight.Too I would lift the plants off the floor, elevate the tree a bit so that the root zone will stay warmer than what the pot will conduct off the cold floor, if that tree is getting 6 hours or more of direct sunlight...If less, then leave on the floor.

I would not fertilize it at all until you can stick it outside or days are much longer...

I would also flush that mix out the next time you have to water your tree. 3 x the volume of that pot with fresh water.

I would also take it to the sink or tub and give the leaves a good spray of cold water to wash off any debris or pests if there is any.

Then let it be. You might loose leaves because of the adjustment of light from a greenhouse environment to less than ideal conditions in home.

Have you fertilized them? They are heavy feeders.

I have fertilized it once with an all purpose miracle grow fertilizer. It was mixed a tsp to a gallon of water. I am planning on ordering some citrus fertilizer but need to see which brand is best.

I am not an expert by any means but a lot of people on here directed to me to use Dyno-grow as a foliage spray and as an additive in the water. I also have oscomote mixed into the soil. Hopefully one of the experts on here comments soon! My meyer lemon is bouncing back from all their awesome advice!

Thank you for the knowledge! I will get it flushed out next time I water and take your advise on moving it and rinsed get it off!

did you hand pollinate them? get any fruit?

I did hand pollinate but it will be awhile before fruit starts to form. And if it does I may cut it off depending on the health of the plant, hopefully I don't have to! I'm hoping to have a couple lemons form!

Meyers do not need to be hand pollinated.

within a week of the flower dying you'll know if you have fruit

Please take a closer picture of the soil mixture. The curling and dark spots (especially visible in the last picture) looks like it is from the leaf miner (see the burrow in the lower right, but i think it's also the cause of the brown in the center).

Here are a few more pictures, it's been moved to a window where it will get a lot more sunlight. I flushed the soil and will hold off on feeding for awhile. The one leaf was a leaf miner for sure, it has the tracks and I killed a small moth the other day. Is it correct to just let these take their course? There are some leaves towards the bottom that now have bumps and the underside of the leaf is brown at these bumps. A couple of the leaf tips are browning as well. Am I dealing with multiple problems? The new spot is right next to a vent so it has a lot of air blowing on it, would this cause a problem with moisture?

Also, I removed the support so hopefully some strength will be gained. I am not seeing any new growth of leaves, is there any way to promote this at this point?

Can you take close-up pics of the brown bumps? As Vladimir said, you do not need to pollinate them - even indoors. They self pollinate.
